What “Invader Zim” Version Did You Get?
The Dib-fan version! In which Dib is the hero, the focus, the base, the beauty of the show! In which Dib was the smartest, funniest… sanest of the characters. In which the viewer’s sympathy is supposed to be directed mostly (heck, solely!) at Dib! In which…. Well, you get the main idea, I think (I hope…)
This following piece information might help you understand, dear viewer. Dibsthe1, dibsthe1.deviantart.com/ a deviant artist as well, fan of “Invader Zim” and a person with a very articulate and intelligent manner of opinion expressing, noticed that I.Z. fans tended to have fixed, contrary and rather baseless views on the show: that Zim was the goodie goodie hero of the show and Dib, the evil villain who reveled in Zim’s misfortune, that the characters of the show are romantically compatible with each other and with either one of themselves, that Gir is the bread and the butter of the show, that Gaz is the main interest of the show, that Dib is a whinny, emo, masochistic wussy and so many more….
So Dibsthe1 wondered what could have lead to such… misunderstanding and (jokingly) concluded that some of the I.Z. fans must have had access to different versions of the show, besides the canonical, original one, versions which contained elements to support their radical points of view. Moreover, Dibsthe1 set out to “find” and showcase these different versions for the benefit of other deviants and I.Z. fans.
And I thought I could add this to Dibsthe1’s list!
Because, how can one not root up to for Dib? I mean, he’s the show’s protector of Earth… the sole, committed protector of earth… in spite of Zim! In spite of other aliens! In spite of him own kind… he has the most common sense in that whole show, he’s funny, smart (who’s able to see through Zim’s disguise and withstand Tak’s…? Yeah, that’s what I thought), iron-willed, strong, resourceful… and, dare I say, cool and cute… He also goes through quite a lot of hardship, dished out not only by Zim, but also by his skoolmates, his skoolmates’ parents, Miss Bitters, his sister, his peers, the Swollen Eyeballs, his own dad,… Keef, Bill, N.A.S.A. dudes, crazy monkeys, Halloweenies, the Mysterious Mysteries staff… come to think of it, just about anyone Dib interacts with gives him trouble… and seeing that he does not go (entirely) insane, instead stays focused and positive makes him a motivator basically! It’d be a shame not to give him some merit.
So here’s my tribute to Dibsthe1 and my dibute to Dib and his awesomeness! Get it? Dib-ute, as in tribute minus trib, plus Dib, eh, eh, eh? No? No. No….
